Kate Stevens

Kate's background in music is predominantly in singing, both as a performer and teacher. Her love of music led her to Leeds to study her Masters in Music Performance at the University of Leeds.

From the South-West of England originally Kate has now decided to call Leeds her home and has brought her knowledge in performance of many genres with her to fill the role of choir leader for Moornotes. Strongly believing that you are never too old to learn, and having focused her research on the technical elements of singing, Kate is honoured to be able to work with a choir whose excellent reputation precedes them.

Kate has had the opportunity to perform with Leeds Baroque Choir and the Clothworkers Consort, both as a soloist and a choir member; performing Handel's The Anthem on Peace, Montiverdi's Il ballo delle Ingrate (Una delle Ingrate) and Blow's Venus and Adonis. She has been a part of many theatre companies in Somerset, but her most notable roles include: Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Pamina (The Magic Flute) and Maria (West Side Story), for which she won a Rose Bowl award. Kate has also enjoyed working as Musical Director for productions such as We Will Rock You (Yeovil Youth Theatre), Little Shop of Horrors (New Junction Theatre Co) and as Director for Don Giovanni (LUU Opera Soc) and many school productions at Sexey's Academy in Bruton, Somerset.
